Last Thursday Thunder Brother opened up for a band here in Nashville called Linear Downfall. What an experience! Not only was the live show completely full of energy and great musicianship, it is produced by fellow Nashvillians. The bass lines range from super funky/disco to mellow Pink Floydish type lines in lower dynamic parts. The guitars worked well together. As one would play an intricate solo, the other would lay down a solid backing rhythm to keep the chords “thick” so to speak and interesting. One of the guitarists occasionally played auxiliary percussion to help add to the monstrous backbeat the drummer was laying down. On top of playing tons of linear fills and grooves, I never lost the beat when listening to these guys. The drummer also had an electronic pad which seems to be picking up quite quickly here in Nashville. The many things this drummer used it for was different bass sounds, aux percussion sounds, and occasionally different hi hat type sounds. It is a super powerful tool and I am currently working on finding one for myself! Check these guys out and if they are ever in your town or close, you neeeeeeeeeed to go see them.
This first video is an older music video from 2010 by Linear Downfall titled Projector Eyes. It displays the electronic side of them for sure.
This next video is a little bit more recent, however I had trouble finding a video that shows all the stuff they have even added to the live show after this video was shot. They were filming last Thursday so keep an eye out on Youtube for this stuff. Oh and check out the bomb Risen Drums backing for this event! There is also a raunchy Beatles cover in here 🙂
